I need help! My landlord did not tell us that our electricity was with a different electrical company when I signed the papers. He said to switch our gas and electricity over into our names. Well the only utility company paper that was in our mailbox was, Consumers Energy. So I sent all my information over to them. Got a notice that everything was set. When we moved in, we had gas and electricity. But on Monday Jan 9th, 2012, my two young children and I came home to no electricity. Now I DTE is wanting a big amount to get our electricity back on. The amount they want is just a $100 short of what I pay for rent. (which is pretty high) Its getting to be below freezing temps, and I have medical problems that require me to have electricity. I've already received assistance from D.H.S. a few months ago, so I'm not eligible for assistance for another few months. Is there any program out there that can help me get my stuff turned on with in the next day or so? Any help is much appreciated.
